Top 5 cyber technologies that are becoming a reality

The development of technology affects the lifestyle of a modern person - 25 years ago it was impossible to imagine that everyone would have a mobile phone in his pocket, comparable in power to a personal computer. Automated technologies are changing not only privacy, but also society as a whole — changes are taking place in the format of entire cities: new high-tech standards are being introduced into transport, logistics, electrification, water supply and security systems everywhere.

Especially for BitJournal readers, five cyber technologies that are changing our megalopolises right now:

Driverless trains and flying taxis

Drastic changes began to occur in the transport system. For example, in Dubai , everyone is accustomed to metro trains, which are controlled by cyber-systems without the participation of the driver. A few years ago we looked at such things with our mouth wide open. And now, humanity is once again open to something more impressive.
Man-controlled quadcopters used for shooting have become commonplace. Already, along with the drones from Uber and Google, city blockchain-based aero-taxis are emerging. A flying drone for transporting people will be presented to the public on May 3 at the Futurama Blockchain Summit star conference in Dubai, along with AI projects and futuristic gadgets. It is expected that the aircraft Vimana will unload the transport arteries of the metropolis, turning it into a city of the future from the film “The Fifth Element”. Well, let's not forget about unmanned vehicles that are already moving on land roads, though as part of an experiment - it is hard for artificial intelligence to interact with live drivers, whose actions sometimes break the rules, contradict logic and are irrational.

Innovative energy sources

Smart energy management systems are perhaps one of the popular topics today. Already, projects are in place in cities and new ones are being implemented that use renewable energy sources. There are projects of eco-friendly “cryptodoms” in which heating comes from installed mining farms and electricity from solar panels on the roof. This approach allows us to talk about a closed system of consumption and partial autonomy of the dwelling of the future.

Logistic Hi-tech solutions

For example, corporate giant Amazon is implementing its own delivery system using PrimeAir drones. A similar experiment in the Russian Federation ended in failure - the drone of the Russian Post crashed after takeoff against the wall of the house. It is also known about the German automated tunnel transportation system , which transports goods under the cities in special cars with pipes with a diameter of 2 meters.

Automated water supply

Another proof of the successful use of cyber technologies in cities: Huawei and China Telecom launched the Smart Water project in Shenzhen: hundreds of thousands of smart sensors online transmit information on water consumption and quality, which allows you to quickly eliminate leaks, warn of floods, optimize water consumption .

Smart parking

Systems installed to track parking conditions use sensors and video cameras to collect information about free / occupied parking spaces. Drivers can learn about the free space through the application on the smartphone and go to it, avoiding exhausting searches, without which not a single trip to the hypermarket on the weekend can do.

Smart City - the cities of the future

According to the calculations of McKinsey experts specializing in strategic management, by 2020 there will be approximately 600 smart cities in the world (Smart City is a modern megapolis concept based on the most advanced technologies in all areas), which will later become economic locomotives. So it’s not just safety and convenience, but also purely economic considerations: the use of technological innovations can significantly reduce financial costs.

Conclusion

Technological progress will undoubtedly lead to an improvement in the quality of life within the metropolis. But any changes have a negative side: automation leads to job cuts - it is an inevitable evil, which will have to accept. Similar stages of society and the financial sector took place more than once. Examples of this are the extinction of pagers and fixed telephony, the emergence of Yandex and Uber taxi aggregators and the destruction of private taxi companies, and many other technologies, manufacturing and businesses that will lose their relevance under the pressure of time and progress.
Undoubtedly, in a few years cyber-technologies will be actively used in big cities. We will follow the course of their implementation together in order to confirm or deny the forecast of McKinsey in 2020 , as well as note which technologies will take root and which ones will remain within the framework of science fiction.
